Sam McDonald History Hike

At Sam McDonald Park
Saturday, February 22, 2025

February is Black History Month. Join us to honor the man who dedicated his life to others and dedicated his property to everyone!

Sam McDonald Park was named after Sam (Emanuel) McDonald, descendent of enslaved persons. From 1917 until his death in 1957, he acquired more than 400 acres which he bequeathed for public use. Our hike will take us to his former home, a two room cabin, which still stands today.

Approximately 4 mile hike on a trail with strenuous inclines and declines.

We will discuss Sam McDonald, the legacy of African American land conservation and his history at Stanford University.

Please Note: Heavy rain will cancel this event.
